Tip Of
The Month
A
Simpler Way Of Life
Staycations
In these crazy and confusing economic times it's hard to find
the time or finances to get away for an extended vacation.
Sometimes getting away from it all is just too stressful with
all the packing, planning, and rescheduling. And anyway who
has the time???
There has been a lot of buzz about "staycations". Staying at
home but pretending you are on vacation. Sounds crazy huh?
Never fear because we have some fun ways to be creative.
While staying close to home pack a picnic and drive a few
hours away and enjoy that picnic like it is the greatest thing
you have ever done. Start out early to beat the traffic or
stay in bed an extra hour to avoid it. Just be sure to enjoy
that picnic.
Visit a town a few hundred miles away. Explore places you have
never seen before. Stay in a lesser expensive hotel and get up
early the next morning and visit the next town. You will save
money and be surprised at what a great time you'll have.
Want to stay completely at home. No problem there. Get out the
cookbook and try recipes that represent vacation food. You may
not be going to Hawaii but you can still put out a terrific
fruit platter or add fruit to your salads. Smoothies are also
refreshing. Add fruit to your water for a refreshing twist.
Have a family movie night. Rent a movie and have popcorn or
ice cream on hand.
Plan an intermission and get the treats out. You can find
theme bags at the party store and really make a night of it.
Want a romantic Staycation? Candles always add a nice touch
and flowers are available just about anywhere. Turn off the TV
and get away from the news. Play music from when you were
dating to bring back fun times.
Go for walks and leave the stress behind. Play cards, read
books, visit the library. (yes they still have those)
Donate or volunteer to help others that are less fortunate.
Show an attitude of gratitude. It feels great!!!
Have fun, be creative, let go and relax.
Just remember to use your sunblock and drink lots of water to
stay hydrated.
Be Well !!!
