The Power of Letting Go
I know we have touched on this before but some of you are
still coming in and asking how to “let go”. Here are a few
ideas.
We all like the results of our efforts with Spring cleaning.
Sometimes it’s not a fun thing to do but we are all aware of
the shift in energy once it is complete. If feels good. An
accomplishment, something we can feel proud of.
Here are a few examples of other releases with great results.
Write a letter to yourself. Whether it’s to forgive yourself
for something you didn’t accomplish or to tell yourself how
proud you are for a job well done. Some people are starving
for praise and mistakenly feed that hunger with food.
Sometimes we need to release anger or hurt with others and
it’s just not possible or it’s too intimidating. Get your
thoughts and hurt on paper. You’ll be surprised how helpful it
can be. And don’t be surprised how much you have to say. Get
it out and “let it go”.
Watch a sad movie to stimulate a good crying jag. Once you
start to let go, then let it flow. Have a box of Kleenex handy
and drink lots of water. The water helps to neutralize the
acids released from the emotions that are being released. It
gives a sense of putting out the fires. Afterwards give
yourself a good hug and say “I’m proud of you. You released a
lot of old stuff”. This is much better than going to the
freezer for the ice cream. Ice cream isn’t therapy. It’s fat!
If you are going to eat ice cream, eat it to enjoy, not to
destroy.
Clean out the garage or a closet. We all have a habit of
holding on to old stuff. Stuff we haven’t used in years. Let
it go. Most of the stuff we are holding on to tends to hold us
back from moving forward. Ask yourself some simple questions.
Do I need this in my life? Could someone else use this more
than me?
Depending on your answers which may surprise you, give the
item away with love. And then say “this has been in my life. I
am ready to release it and give it to someone who can really
use it and enjoy it”.
Try these things and be aware of how your energy will shift
and how much more positive you will feel. You will definitely
have more peace in your life.
Remember the power of letting go. It will empower you.
